In 2021 I opened Bold and Gold Piercing Art.
For me piercing isn't just a job, or even a career. It's my vocation in life and I started back in 2008
I love that piercing and body adornments can transform how a person feels about themselves. That the process as well as the end result can be super empowering and confidence boosting. It can be emotional and exhilarating.
My clients have commented on my practice being meditative and I'm grateful to have been complimented on my style of piercing as safe and trauma informed. I want each person who visits me to feel like they are both held and in control.
Outside of the studio I have a pretty quiet lifestyle. I live in ritual; love to meditate, burn incense, and pull my Oracle cards. Occasionally I can be found dancing about on my yoga mat, playing my guitar and very occasionally wild swimming with my besties but I especially love a cozy night at home with my husband, plants and floofy cat babes.
I hope to welcome you into my home from home the studio where I want everyone to feel like they can belong.

I am one of the Resident Body Piercers, here at Bold & Gold Piercing Art. Piercing for nearly 10 years now, I apprenticed with our beloved studio owner and piercer Nikki in 2014.
I take enormous pride in my work and love to work with my clients on jewellery selection and more specifically jewellery selection to fit my clients unique anatomy and personality.
My clients kindly describe me as friendly, funny and welcoming and I work hard to provide the best beside manner possible and a scrupulously clean working environment.
When I'm not at the studio, I spend all of my available time with my baby daughter and furry babies too! I love to get cosy on the couch and binge watch Star Wars when I'm not preoccupied chasing a baby!
Sofi Apter

Hey there! I am Sofi and I am a resident body piercer here at Bold & Gold Piercing Art, where I have happily been since the opening of our Easter Road premis.
As a neurodivergent and queer person, it is important for me to have a space where I can feel accepted and supported and through having those foundations here , I am able to offer the same to our clients. Within my work I want to offer my clients an experience where they can be gently guided through what can be considered "intimidating", with ease and comfort. My intent is to clearly communicate and maybe even make you laugh along the way!
I adore adornment in any form, and truly love being part of the process with each individual and their nod at whatever self expression means to them. Body piercing can be a form of reclamation, or simply just a little bit of self care and I will always be honoured to be a part of that process with my clients.
If you want to geek out on stones & settings I love and styling jewellery, especially anything with a little bit of movement or texture!
Rachel Pippiette

I’ve been the face in the background of Bold and Gold piercing art since 2018.
There really isn’t anything quite like the job satisfaction I feel when we manage to make our clients' dream jewellery a reality.
Working face to face - and screen to screen- with clients to plan out, budget for and source their bespoke jewellery collection is such a special process that I feel truly blessed to be entrusted with.
Being a Leith local, there’s a pretty good chance that you’ll see me scurrying about outside the studio from time to time, feeding the squirrels and goofing around with my other passion in life - my daughter Elodie.
Laura Degen

Admin and Jeweller
The most recent addition to the Bold and Gold team.
With a strong passion for body modification and a background in silversmithing, she made herself at home very quickly.
Laura shares the duties of admin fairy with Rachel and will most likely be your point of contact for all your enquiries and worries at one point or another. A self proclaimed magpie, she will always delight over your jewellery choices with you.
In her free time she likes to work on her small silver jewellery business, paint, write, dance and lift heavy weights - but never at the same time
